NASA

National Aeronautics and Space Administration also known by (NASA) was established by President D. Eisenhower. The new agency became operational on October 1, 1958.Since that time, most U.S. space exploration efforts have been led by NASA, including the Apollo Moon-landing missions, the Skylab space station, and later the Space Shuttle. NASA is supporting the International Space Station and is overseeing the development of the Orion Multi-purpose Crew Vehicle, the Space Launch System and Commercial crew vehicles. The agency is also responsible for the LSP which provides oversight of launch operations and countdown management for unmanned NASA launches.
1962 February 20 - Astronaut John Glenn became the first American in orbit. Then in 1965 June 3 - Astronaut Ed White became the first American to walk in space.  And this was one of the most significant events occurring for NASA. another most significant event that really marked NASA for a long time was that in 1986 January 28 - The Space Shuttle Challenger exploded seconds after liftoff. This event was so significant for them because they felt as if they had failed. It was an event that became unforgettable for them. but it didn't all end there, in 1990 August 24 the Space Shuttle Discovery deployed the Hubble Space Telescope. 2002 November 22 first crew to live long period of time on space. Many other things happened during that time but then came another unforgettable event and that was in 2003 February 1 - The Space Shuttle Columbia exploded on re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere.

What are NASA'S most recent projects ? The Meteoroid Environment Office is involved in several research projects with institutions located throughout North America. The underlining goal of these projects is to gain a better understanding of the meteoroid environment so that MEO environment models can be improved.
