Pamukkale
By: Marlon & Irving
The Pamikkale are located in Turkey they are basically pools made out of sedimentary rock. These natural formations have the shape of a basin which is why it permits people to use them as pools. They are beautiful as well, the water looks so natural. The water is has a hot temperature, according to Marlon & Irving these waters were once used for curative purposes. Many people go visit this place every year, they take baths in these pools and in the ruins of an ancient town.

Devils Town
By: Rabail & David & Bryan
The devils town is located in teh south of serbia, it is basically just piles of tall rocks that seem to be paired up. The legend behind the Devils Town is actually very interesting. According to my peers the legend says that there was a very small town in which there lived many people. The devil came and saw that they were doing good, so he cast a spell on them making them fall in love with their own family members which is a big sin, after this there came a fairy that was very mad because this was happening so she cast a spell when the couple were getting married and they were converted in to stone for eternity, and that is why they are paired up. The devils town pyramids can not be climbed  unlike the devils tower they can only seen, they are a very protected place. The scientific part to all of this is that these rock pyramids were actually created by erosion air and water. Over all their project was very good and informative.

Hessdalen light
By: Trinity & Loren
The Hessdalen Ligths are located in Norway, nobody knows exaclty what they are made out of or where they come from. There many guesses about their appearance but no body is one-hundred percent sure why these lights appear in this particular place. Many people think that the reason behind these ligths are UFO'S, but others think that the answer to this mystrey is science. This souds like something I would like to see in person some day, very interesting presentation.

Devils Tower

My second quarter project was about the devil's tower, which is a monument in Wyoming. The devils tower started off as a laccolith, as the time passed sedimentary rock around the laccolith started to erode and the devils tower was the only thing left, which is made out of igneous rock. The devils tower was very special to american indians, there are many legends about why they worship the devils tower and why it has such name. There ae six types of american indian tribes that worship the devils tower, they all have strange names, but unique cultures. The devils tower now a days is a a main attraction for toursim, many tourists go every year just to hike the devils tower scary huh ? Since the devils tower is scared to many american indians there are specific places where hikers can climb.  Another fact about devils tower is that it was the first monument in the U.S president Theodore Roosevelt declared this in 1906 it was also used to film the movie "Close encounters of the third kind." The devils tower is a beautiful place for a vacation, and a great place to hike. If you are up for an adventure go visit Devils Tower!!!

Title: MT.FUJI
By: Lauren Fuessel
I learned that Mt. Fuji is located in Honshu, Japan. The last time Mt.Fuji erupted was in December 16 1707. Killing many people, at the same time as producing nutrients for planet earth. Mt.Fuji is a holy place for Japanese because they believe one of their gods used to live there. This mountain has amazing views, perfect for pictures.

Title: The Missing Link
By: Lawrence Elliot & Arvind Bala
I learned in this presentation that both Yellowstone and Hawaii were formed from "hotpots". Basically what happens is that there is a hole in the earth's crust, from which magma is coming out. Over millions of years a mountain starts forming, and as this is happening the plates are moving which let the chain continue, and form many mountains that are right next to each other.

Title: Micro Fossils
By: Rodolfo Martinez
I leaned that micro fossils are small versions of fossils which are mainly made up of bacteria and protists. A major micro fossil is called foraminifera, which make up sedimentary rocks. Micro fossils are studied under a microscope, they are very important in our economy because they help us male oil and petroleum, they are natural resources.

Field Trip To The Gorge

Zaira Perez

The gorge is a great place to visit, if you are ready for an amazing adventure and ready to learn a lot of new things. In the tour I learned that the Gorge was made in July 2002 when a flood took place. The peak flow was about 70,000 cubic feet per second. The erosion that took place in these three days cause a lot of damage, it revealed what is now called Canyon Lake Gorge. I also learned about the unicellular organisms that were all over the grounds, they are micro fossils and help with age-dating, which means they help geologists decide how old the sediments layers in earth are. The gorge is made up of sedimentary rock, the older rock is gray because of all the mold that grows on it, but the tour guide mentioned that when chunks fall of you can tell because they are a white color, they still have not grown mold. I also got to see dinosaur tracks, it was unbelievable. The tour guide said that the dinosaur that had made those tracks was as big as our school bus! I also learned that the oldest layer of rock are at the bottom and the youngest at the top. Water flowing through the gorge created canals at the end of the gorge, the tour guide mentioned that people would ask if they made these, but he said they didn't. Over all I had a great time with my friends and Ms. Robinson I am looking forward to the next trip.

Zaira's Geode Rock.
I am doing my project about geode rocks where i am basically going to give cool information about geodes. i will be talking about the different type of geodes there are, how are they formed, where can they be found etc . i will be describing geodes with details letting y'all know about the type of minerals they consist of the type of crystals they have inside and what type of rock is a geode.
